Love is Forgiveness

Someone told me about a story of a newly-wed couple in some far and remote country-side place. After the wedding, the husband had to leave home for a month to work in the city and he had to travel using a long boat ride to reach his place of work. The wife was left alone. After a week or two, the wife started to miss her husband badly and she felt the need to go to cross the river to see him. She doesn’t have any money to pay for the boat ride but regardless, she went to find out if she can get a ride.  She approached the first man with the boat and pleaded to give her a ride and she will pay him later when she comes back after she’d seen her husband. She would surely have some money by then. But the man refused.  She never stopped because the need to see her husband is the most important thing in the world for her now and she would do anything.  She found the second man with a boat who said yes to her but on an indecent condition. She agreed to his condition and off she went to cross the river. Her husband was surprised seeing her and knowing that she has no money to cross the river, he asked her. She told her husband how she got the ride. The husband had gotten really angry and beaten her. He left her after and never came back home.

Now, the question is: Who’s got the worst character in this little story?

My answer was the unforgiving, unloving husband.

Another answered that it’s the wife because what she did broke everything apart. And we were told that this is the right answer.

Let me tell you why I picked the husband.

There are four characters in the story. The husband, the wife, the first man who’s got the boat and the second man.

The equation here is [ BOY + GIRL = LOVE ] [ LOVE = MARRIAGE ] [ MARRIAGE = HUSBAND + WIFE ]. There was love, therefore there was marriage.

The first man with the boat is the Businessman. You want a ride, pay me the money. It all goes down to business.

The second man with the boat is the Devil. You can get this IF you will give me this. You need to return the favor.. but actually – it is advancing him the favor.

The wife is the typical woman who loves her man. She is weak. She is willing to make sacrifices. All to suffice the need of love. She would trade anything in this world to be with her man.  There’s a lot of her in us. The rich girl who turned her back to a huge inheritance because she loved a farmer. The woman who sacrificed a high-profile career to be a plain housewife. The wife who would not sleep to earn money because her husband has cancer.  Our gender would do anything, struggle through anything – for that four-letter word: LOVE. Who can blame us?

The husband is unforgiving and unloving. The act of his wife is not out of unfaithfulness, nor out of money. It is an act driven by love. The end purpose is love. The end purpose is him. But since he is ruled by ego and pride, he beat his ‘weak’ wife and left her.

You will not leave someone, especially your spouse, for committing a mistake or for doing something out of the way to serve a higher purpose that is Love. None of us has a pure soul. Therefore, we should be able to forgive. And we can only do that when LOVE resides in our HEARTS.

P.S. I really disagree that it is the wife.

Hello, Diana!

Suppose you're dating a guy or let's just say that you occassionally goes out with one guy (and one guy only!). You're his girlfriend when you two are together but during the rest of the days of the month, you really doesn't care whether he calls you or not. You don't consider him a boyfriend but you find him nice and you always say 'Yes' whenever he invites you out.

You feel so comfortable and safe around him but you never demanded him to be around all the time.

It was all going okay until one time at 3 in the morning, you were awakened by his text message that says,

"Hello Diana. I was sleeping all night and wasn't able to text you back.
I wish you sweet dreams.  Kisses, Mi Amore."

Thug!

You sent him a sweet text message last night before you went to sleep because out of the blue, you thought about him. And he replied to you at the wee hours of the morning with a message like that.

What could be wrong with his reply? It was sweet enough to come from a guy.

But your name's not Diana! And it's nowhere near Diana!

What would you feel when something like that will wake you up from your precious sleep?

Then after a few seconds, there comes another text from him in your Inbox saying that he's still dizzy from his sleep and he mistyped your name.

You did not really expect since day 1 that you're the only one he's seeing. Definitely not and given the fact that you don't really consider yourself to be in a relationship with him.

If I were you, I'll send him a message back saying,  ''It's okay, Christian. We all make typographical errors sometimes especially when we're half awake :-)'', when his name is Ylio.

Caught in a Bad Romance (She wants your love!)

Your heart is breaking and you’re listening to ‘Feels Like Home’. Is that some sort of self-healing or theraphy? Can a love song soothe your broken heart? But how could you find comfort when the song only makes you hope on something that appears so bleak? “Something in your eyes makes me wanna lose myself.. in your arms..” Ahhh! You are so in-love! “Something in your voice makes my heart beat fast.. hope this feeling last for the rest of my life..” Well, it would surely last if you wouldn’t try to get rid of it.

The person who you thought is ‘The One’ doesn’t have any feeling of romantic affection towards you. How’s that? Talk about destiny and soulmates and that is all he’s not! You have felt all the magic and have seen all the chemistry and you are only waiting for him to..

“Time.. I’ve been passing time watching trains go by..” Tick-tock. Tick-tock. The clock is ticking and there’s not a single clue from him that he’s gonna tell you what you wanted to hear. Or what you’re hoping all your life to hear, or what you’re wishing so hard to hear, or what you’re fervently praying to hear. You already stripped a number of leaf from your calendar and still there’s nothing from him. You’re hanging on the thinnest thread of hope that you’ve got. ‘What if? What if he would?’, you say. “Something’s telling me it might be you..”

But what if he would not? What would happen to the months and years of emotional investment you had?

You have to accept that you could never be more than friends. Yes, “it must have been love..” but your fantasies should be over now. You could never be lovers and that you have to start letting go and try moving on. You may say “I know I’ll never love this way again..” but don’t hold on. Let go and love again. Maybe not exactly the same way but take yourself out there and love again.

Get out of your shell, out of your fantasies. Face the reality. Stop ‘preserving’ yourself for the hope that one day, he will realize that he feels the same way like you do. Open up yourself to others. Who knows? You might bump with your ‘Valentine’ just around the corner.

And please! Stop singing “I miss you like crazy.”

Why He Doesn't Want a Relationship?

He doesn’t want a commitment. He doesn’t want to make any promises.  He doesn’t want a relationship. But he gets close to you and calls you a ‘special friend’. Not friends with benefits but a special friend. You could be wondering what is it about a special friend. I’ll tell you.

A special friend for him is someone whom he could share a mutual feeling of closeness. He’s consistently in touch, he meets you once in a while, you spend movie nights together on the couch with some popcorns and drinks.  Some nights, you’d have dinner. You sit hours and hours hugging each other. You both laugh at funny scenes and stay close. He rubs your shoulder while your head rests on his chest. He would play with your hair then touches your arm as yours lay across his tummy. There are times that he holds your hand and you try to fit your fingers in between the spaces of his. He tickles you a lot. You also try to tickle him back but it just doesn’t work for him. He kisses your forehead and your nose and your cheeks and your lips. He wraps you tightly in his arms and you just wanted to be there forever.

For you, it is heaven. It is all you ever wanted. But wake up, girl! Remember – no promises, no commitments. There will be no next level to it. There will be no girlfriend-boyfriend thing. And to your advantage, there will be no s**. That’s part of being special friends and that’s what makes it different from being friends with benefits. He makes sure that no one would breach the agreement. He doesn’t want to spoil what he shares with you  and he doesn’t want to spoil you.

But let’s take a look at you. You do not see him as an ordinary guy. He’s intelligent and neat and charming and decent. He’s someone ideal and you like him. A lot, actually. But you try to block what you feel because you have a deal. So you start to lie.. to yourself and to him. You try to appear okay everytime you get together. You try to appear cool but deep inside, you are head-over-heels in-love with him. You don’t want to lose him so you just keep what you feel all to yourself. When he’s hugging and kissing you, you’re hugging and kissing him back with all your emotions. You are dying to say those three little words that when you will tell him could break your special friendship apart.. and might cause you to lose him forever.

Ahhh! Why things could be so hard? You might say. It’s a little hard to understand because you definitely like each other.  And you wonder why he doesn’t want  a relationship?

He is single and unattached. He doesn’t date a lot of women around. He’s (definitely) not gay.

So, you wonder.. and wonder.. and wonder.

Video: Wireless Connection

What you're about to see is a simple illustration of a love story. This may appear cheesy and mushy and.. yes, you can say it here --- Corny! But, what the heck? We all know that being in-love is like that and I am sure that those of you who are in-love will nod your head for me. For those who aren't.. well, you're missing the fun!

Enjoy the video.

From two (2) source figures (the boy & the girl), each was made to make little movements in the hands and in the mouth to convey actions. Definitely not a comic strip.

Non-Smoking Zone

This is a non-smoking zone. Please don't lit your cigarette. No one should smell any smoke coming from here. This is a secret place..

"What are you doing here? How did you know I'm here?
Sssh! Don't tell anyone.
Please go now.
No! You can't stay! You should not stay!
I won't talk to you. I won't tell you anything.
Sssh! Don't say a word.
Hey! Stop making noises!
Stop asking me because I won't spill a thing.
Go. Please go. Just go.
And don't look back. Please?
No. Don't stare at me like that.
Don't try to read my eyes.
I'll be fine.
After you would disappear from my sight, I'll be fine.
Don't come near me.
Why are you doing this? Why don't you just go?
Just leave me.
Questions again. I have no answers.
No! Please! Don't hold me! Don't do that!
I am weak now. I am helpless.
But I can forget this. In time, I can.
What do you want?!?
Just turn your back now and leave.
Don't make it harder for me.
It's okay. My tears would dry soon.
No, it's not your fault. It's mine.
I am stubborn. I let this happen.
Now, I have to fix things up.
But everything will be okay soon.
What?!? You won't leave? You cannot stay!
Please I want you to leave me now.
Why?!? Why do you have to ask 'why'?
When you would start to walk away from here, you would know why.
Go now. Leave me. Don't look back. Never come back.
I may be in tears now but I would be over you soon.
Don't stay here. Because the longer you stay, the more I'll get hurt.
So, go! Just go. Never come back.
Why can't you leave?
Why would you stay?
Please go.."

I don't want to be just a friend..

Sssh! Don't tell anyone. Don't lit your cigarette. I don't want anyone to see me here..

Packages

People comes in packages. And we have to accept them as they are or totally not deal with them about anything.

We meet people everyday. We deal with people everyday. Whether it’s friends, relatives, colleagues, ex-colleagues, plain acquaintances.. we need to go through ‘dealing’ with them to achieve the purpose of our daily lives.

Let’s get back to meeting people. I mean, new acquaintances. This is where everything starts.

Suppose we meet each other for the first time. I will introduce myself to you and you will introduce yourself to me. Commonly, we’ll exchange a few basic information about each other that’s mainly about the job that we do, where we’re from, where we stay and our status in life in general. I’m not talking about business here. This is meeting a new person because he or she might be introduced to you by a friend or by anyone you know and it was done for a purpose which is most of the time, a personal one. Or it could also be that you’ve just met accidentally, however the meeting happened.

When the introduction is done and the connection is established, more or less, knowing the other person would not end there. It’s either one of you is interested or both of you are (and someone needs to cross fingers here). At the onset, you ask general questions and then you gradually move in to get the ‘more’ personal details about the other person. Then you would learn the things that he/she do, the things that he/she likes, the things that makes him/her happy and how he/she goes about his/her life.

You would soon find out that there are things about this person that you like and there are also things in him/her that you don’t like.

Here is where the ‘packages’ comes in. It’s called that way because you have to accept the ‘package’ as a whole. You cannot tear the part that you don’t like about the person and throw it away. It’s as simple as the ‘Take it or Leave it’ policy.

I’ll be more specific. But I will write from my own type of package. I have to use some checklist on this part. When I would be asked about what I like in a friend, I would always reply enumeratively with:

1. Simple

2. Not a disco-addict

3. A non-smoker

4. Not loud

5. Conservative

6. Loves sports

7. No tattoos

8. Prim and proper

9. Decent

10. No body piercings (except the ears for ladies)

Okay, that’s my list. And then I met someone. I’ll give it a little thrill here. So, let’s say I met a guy. We had our introductions and after the first conversation that we had, I knew that I would definitely meet him and talk to him again. Why so? You might ask. Because I enjoyed talking to him and he seemed interesting. It could be on a personal note or he could be a valuable business contact. Who knows? But let’s stick on the ‘personal’ note.

Let’s say, he invited me again sometime to meet and have dinner. And he becomes ‘more’ interesting in my eyes. If you know what I mean. Our conversations now runs from family to sports to everything. I learned that he’s not the type who enjoys discos and he’s a sport enthusiast – like, name it and he can play the game. He dresses well, neatly groomed and proper. Check numbers 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8.

He looks simple and decent. Check numbers 1 and 9.

And then I popped out one very important question.

“Do you have any tattoo?”, that’s with a wink and a grin.

And he said ‘No.’ Relief. Now, back on the list. Check mark on number 7.

“How about piercings?”, I am crossing my fingers now.

He shook his head. Check number 10.

My type of package, I must say, right? He’s got it all. And then right after dinner, he took a stick of cigarette from his pocket and puff! How could I miss that??? Number 3 on my list is still unchecked!

He smokes and confessed that he can empty a box in a day. Now, what?

That’s what a package is all about. He is a nice guy. Of course, I would not discard him just because he smokes.

We should always remember that people comes in packages. Love them or leave them, but never deal with anyone halfway.

Will You Pass The Test Of Life?

This is an excerpt.

John Blanchard was a soldier.

One day, in a library, he found an old book with a lot of writing in the margins. He read her handwritten notes in the book and admired their deep insights. At the front cover, he saw that the book was previously owned by a certain Hollis Maynell.

With much effort, he located her address. He wrote to her and told her about her old book and how he liked her written notes.

And she responded, thanking him for his kind words.

But that day, he was shipped overseas to fight in a war.

Still, they kept writing to each other. During the difficult times at the battlefield, her words inspired him and gave him hope.

Little by little, John was falling in love with her.

He requested for a photo, but she replied that if he really cared for her, it won’t matter how she looked.

Finally, he was going home.

They decided to meet at the Grand Central Station at 7pm.

He said he’d be in his soldier’s uniform bringing her old book.

And she said, “You’ll know me by the red rose I’ll wear on my lapel.”

When the train arrived at 7pm, John was there, wearing his neatly pressed military uniform, with her old book in his hand.

The first woman to step off the train was a beautiful woman in a green suit. But there was no red rose on her blouse.

John was disappointed. But she was so lovely, he kept looking at her. She walked in front of him, glanced at him with a smile, and asked, “Are you following me, soldier?”

A part of him wanted to follow.

But no, he had to wait for Hollis Maynell.

The next woman who stepped off the train had a red rose on her lapel. She was perhaps 45 years old. She had graying hair beneath her hat. And she was very overweight. Meantime, the beautiful woman in the green suit was walking away.

John was torn.

Yet he looked again at the woman who was wearing the red rose. He remembered her letters and what a fascinating a person she was. He remembered how wonderful her words made him feel. He told himself, “This may not be love. But this may be more than love. This will be a beautiful friendship with a lovely person.”
He walked up to her, straightened himself, handed the book to her and said, “My name is Lieutenant John Blanchard. You must be Ms. Hollis Maynell. I’m so glad you could meet me. May I have dinner with you tonight?”

The woman smiled. “I don’t know what this is about, son,” she answered, “but the young lady in the green suit asked me to wear this red rose on my coat. She also said that if you asked me out for dinner, she said she’d be waiting for you in the big restaurant across the street. She said it was some kind of test!”

Your Choices Shape Your Destiny

Imagine the end of this story: John and Hollis getting married, having kids, and growing old together.

Because he lived deliberately.

Because he made the right choice.

Because he passed the test.

Friend, life is a series of tests.

And your choices—your answers to the test—will shape your destiny!

Sometimes, it’s a choice between love or lust.

Sometimes, it’s a choice between selfishness or selflessness.

Sometimes, it’s between what your heart wants and what your flesh wants.

Sometimes, it’s between what will bless you forever and what will give you pleasure this moment only.

Your life is really all up to you.

You’re the chef of your meal.

You’re the architect of your house.

You’re the scriptwriter of your movie.

You’re the composer of your song.

You’re the painter of your masterpiece.

At the end of the day, you decide how happy, fulfilled, and blessed you want to become.

-From the Soulfood Newsletter of Mr. Bo Sanchez

Come to think of it. Our life is not always about fate or destiny. It is more about the decisions we make and that would tell us what we will become and where we will be in this life, how we will go through our lives and who we're gonna spend the rest of our lives with. -TsoCoLate-

How Do You Know Whether Its Infatuation or Real Love?

This was an excerpt from a Friday mag, in the popular G*Nice column which has been my all-time-favorite page in the magazine.

One of his readers threw this killer question which says, "How do you know whether the feelings you have is infatuation or real love?". And he proposed that the potential answer, if there's such a thing.. a mighty complex thing, is personal to each of us.

He wrote...

"I guess that all hook-ups start with infatuation which is officially defined as 'a foolish, unreasoning or extravagant passion or attraction'. Surely some things in life should be driven by emotions alone, above all other more logical rationale. If that makes me foolish and unreasoning, then so be it."

"I mean, it's not like buying a car - where mileage, previous owners and a scratch on the body work are key considerations. Where relationships are concerned, my advice is just jump in and see how it feels when you are driving, how well it handles on the open road with the top down, and more importantly, how it handles on sharp bends, wet roads and heavy traffic!"

"The only part of the definition that I am totally feeling is the extravagant passion/attraction, which should be omnipresent at all times if initial infatuation develops into that crazy little thing called love."

"Infatuation might have that feeling of the short-lived about it and if it does, then that's the thing to place your trust in - just enjoy it for what it is. Like ice cream."

Like ice cream?

"Most of us love ice cream and can gorge ourselves on it with great pleasure but there comes a time when we know that we have to balance our diet with something that's a bit more nutritious."

"You never stop loving ice cream and should never deny yourself that pleasure, but we all know that it best exists when consumed alongside other foodstuffs rich with vitamins, minerals and goodness."

"I think that infatuation is much like the instant hit that you get from the perfect snack at just the right time, whereas real love delivers the all-consuming hit that you can only get from a truly awesome meal that has all the flavours that make the lips tingle and the stomach full to the point of a contented tummy patting and ultimately the loosening of the belt!"

Surrender

Surrendering means, by definition, giving up attachment to results. When we surrender to God, we let go of our attachment to how things happen on the outside and we become more concerned with what happens on the inside.

When we love, we are automatically placing ourselves within an attitudinal and behavioral context that leads to an unfoldment of events at the highest level of good for everyone involved. We don't always know what that unfoldment would look like, but we don't need to. God will do his part if we do ours. Our only job in every situation is to merely let go of our resistance to love.

Relationships are assignments. They are part of a vast plan for our enlightenment, the Holy Spirit's blueprint by which each individual soul is led to greater awareness and expanded love. He brings together people who have the maximal opportunity for mutual growth. No meetings are accidental.

In the holy relationship, it's understood that we all have unhealed places, and that healing is the purpose of our being with another person. We don't try to hide our weaknesses, but rather we understand that the relationship is a context for healing through mutual forgiveness. Adam and Eve were naked in the garden of Eden but not embarrassed. That doesn't mean they were physically naked. It means they were emotionally naked, totally real and honest, yet they were not embarrassed because they felt accepted completely for who they were.

Do your part and just surrender to where God would lead you. Believe that He had already mapped out the direction where you're heading. But make sure not to lose your way. -TsoCoLate

Falling In Love..

"Falling in love is like crossing a skeleton pedestrian bridge."

I am scared of heights. Especially when I could see and feel that I am slowly being ‘physically elevated’ from one place to another. But much, much more when I can literally see that I am moving up or being raised from the ground, the comfort zone wherein I wouldn’t fall hard either I would accidentally slip on my own or when somebody would bump on me carelessly enough to cause me little accidents like stepping on my shoes or make me lose my grip on whatever I have in my hands.

The higher I go up, the more spine-chilling it gets. It’s like the Earth’s stopping its orbit and I am frozen in time – not knowing when I could reach the very last step of it which is the highest. When I would be halfway through it, it’s always a crossroad. Should I move continuously up or should I step down while I can still manage the steps and just take the longer way around to get me to the other side of the road.

It gives an identical feeling when I am at the verge of ‘liking’ somebody way beyond the mere fondness. I have to stop and ask myself: Should I go forward or should I step back? Sometimes it’s just hard to let go of something that you know you’ve always wanted all your life. Though it’s hard to wait around for something that you think ‘might’ not happen but it’s even harder to give it all up when it’s everything that you long to have. It’s hard to let go of the thought that you might possibly fall-in-love.

But like going up the skeleton pedestrian bridge, each step of the way in ‘liking’ and eventually ‘falling’ for someone sends a chilling numbness in my being because of the fact that though it would give me a blissful feeling at the start and knowing that soon I will be at the top of the steps - I would never, ever know what’s waiting for me there. It is always a question if I would remain to be standing there ( which is the most ideal and will make me truly happy), or after reaching the top, my knees would be trembling big time because I have a broken-heart and I have to step down, no matter how shattered I feel.

But then despite this thoughts, I always try to take the steps one at a time, telling myself that in no time, there will be answers to my questions. It might not be really heart-friendly when the other person would not reciprocate what I feel but no one can use directives in matters of the heart. However things would be in the end, more often than not, it is what we feel at present that’s important and the majority are always willing to risk it all to experience the bliss of falling & being in-love.

It was said that ‘To Love With Utter Abandon Without Knowing What The Future Would Bring Is Magic..” It could be simply said as ‘let go of all your fears and just fall-in-love’. And who doesn’t want a little magic in their lives?

When friends would ask me for some good advice, I always tell them this: “When you know what will make you happy, go for it.. sometimes, there’s no second chances..” , with a smile, a blink, a hug and a post-script saying, ‘..but don’t forget to keep half of the love for yourself..’. That is so, when it wouldn’t work out right, they’d still be standing on their feet and wouldn’t be crushed down to the ground. Maybe I should take that advice for myself.

But I always give 100%. And wherever it would bring me, I could use the love or the hurt to toughen my knees and hopefully, to cross the bridge with my heart and soul still intact and my major senses functioning right..

The Only Key To Happiness

This is from a Soulfood Newsletter that I have received from Mr. Bo Sanchez. He never fails to give such an enriching, inspiring and motivating words to guide us through life. I must say that each time I would finish reading his newsletter or the short stories that he wrote in his books, I am always elevated to another level of realization about the things that's going on in my life and it really helps me to check on the important things that I miss.

The Only Key To Happiness
(Everything Else Is Fake)

I have an announcement to make: God wants you to be happy. In fact, I believe God has already lined up the right blessings, the right miracles, and the right people to bless your life.

Especially the right people.

Why the right people?

Because God wants you to be happy by having happy relationships.

He really only has one strategy to make you happy. He has no backup plan in case it fails. It’s through happy relationships or bust.

If you don’t have happy relationships, you’ll never be happy.
No matter how rich you are.
No matter how religious you are.
No matter how much you achieve in life.
No matter how beautiful you are.
No matter how intelligent you get.
At the end of the day, your life is all about relationships.

In other words, your life is all about love.

That’s why the greatest commandments are about love.

Because He wants you to be happy.

.. and who doesn't want to be happy? - TsoCoLate-

Before Saying "I Do"..

A sneak peek into a woman's thoughts a few minutes before fully committing herself to forever..

"Today, I am going to say ‘Yes’ to the only man who I dreamt of spending the rest of my life with.. to the only man whom I am so willing to give my whole being with - all my heart and all my soul. Today, I will submit myself to love this man forever. I will be One with him and God will be my witness.

All my friends and family admired how beautiful I am in my wedding gown but my mother knows better. She said that she had never seen my face as bright as it is today in her whole life. She knows that I am perfectly happy in having found an amazingly wonderful man who gave his love and who is so willing to share what’s left of his life with me.

Familiar faces surrounds me but remembering their names would not matter now. It was not so hard to acknowledge everyone’s presence because the smile on my lips makes them glad that I appreciate their presence on this very special day of my life.

I can hear people talking and laughing, but I hear them in very low tones, maybe my ears defies me of those because all I can perceive is the sound of the piano instrumental music that keeps me afloat and enchanted.

When my little flower girls begun to march along the aisle, I knew that in a few minutes, I will be stepping my way one-foot-after-the-other towards forever.

All eyes were on me. But my eyes are on him. As the little angels shower my path with petals of white roses, with each step, I am moving closer and closer to the only man I have loved so dearly in all my life.. the only man I will marry.

Our eyes are locked together and everything around us could just fade away. My eyes begun to feel warm and in a second or two, beads of my tears will seep out. Few more steps and our life together will come into being.

Five steps towards him, I am trying hard to control myself not to take a leap and enclose myself in his arms.

In four, I could almost feel the warmth of the palm of his hands as he would reach out his arms to me.

In three, I could not wait for his lips to touch mine.

In two, I am marrying the love of my life.

In one, I do."

A Sad Lament

Like how the desert thirst for even the fewest drops of rain, I missed you. Unfathomable as it may seem to many but I am aching for a moment just to have a sight of you. To hold you would be a stroke of my luck and to love you will be the fate that I would trade the world for. I love you, my everdearest. Though this may sound just like a poetic piece of literature, understand that these words would not be written if my heart is empty and not beating.

You crashed into me one day and our pieces collided altogether that we cannot isolate each from the other. I cannot part myself from you and you from me. We are entwined. It is only human to feel that I am one with you. I submit myself. I surrender.

I felt love in its highest form. Forgiving, unselfish and trusting. This is what you have made me of. There is no reason to refuse it. You are the water that flows in the stream and I am just flowing with you, not being afraid of the fall at the end because right then, I knew that however high the fall would be, you are still with me, enveloping me with your current - because we are whole. The plunge may be deep or the bottom could be rocky and it may hurt but you are with me. And I could find peace with that thought.

However the time and distance separates us now, not even in a brief second of my conscious and unconscious self have you ever parted from my existence on this temporal Earth. We are holding on that one day, we will be together and it will happen someday. Though it may still be a far away place and the absence sometimes makes the hope futile and the someday appears bleak, I believe that I could reach that place with you. The longing only keeps me alive and wanting.

My beloved, you will be the reality of my dreams. And if this is a fairy tale that I am living now, I beseech you to be my real-life Prince. I know in my heart that I could love only you and your love would be enough to keep me forever.

Each day is the beginning of the rest of our lives and I could only regret of the days that I am not with you. It is the sad lament of a heart that loves.

The Battle Between the Heart and the Mind

“One is so brainy, the other is too emotional. At what point could they ever compromise? Or would they ever.. ever compromise?”

With all hair neatly packed up with a big clasp, she wore her black-framed eyeglasses and slipped on her 2-inch heeled shoes that goes with her dark gray suit. One more look in the full-length mirror, pleased with what she saw, then off she go. Smart. Intelligent. Strong. She is a Woman. She will walk confidently and will face the world with firmness like nothing on Earth is negotiable. It’s all in the mind. Everything is in the mind. It was all that matters.

Her ally will greet the world each day depending on the emotion she feels. Her hair lightly falls down on her back & shoulders. She takes time to smell the roses and hear songs. She laughs, she cries. She can wear a smile all day when she is happy and she can stay up all-night crying with her broken-heart. Loving. Caring. Subtle. She is a Woman. What she feels in her heart is all that matters. Love is what makes the world goes round. Without it, the world would stop turning.

When these two are together, that is when the battle begins. And they are practically together each moment of their lives so the battle continuously lives.
“Why can’t you put that smile off?”, the Mind asks the Heart noticing that the other is so blissful one night. “Is there anything you want to tell me?”

The Heart gave her a grin. Her eyes are sparkling with what she feels. “You wouldn’t believe how wonderful this guy I met was. He’s just the reality of all my dreams.” And she danced & swirled around the room.

The Mind just stayed put, took off her glasses, turned her lampshade off and without anymore questions, she said, “You should not trust anyone. Don’t get fooled, am telling you.”

The Heart only smiled and dreamingly pulled her blanket up. With the guy in her thoughts, she whispered, “Tonight, please be in my dreams.” and closed her eyes.

In the morning, before the Mind left the house, she wrote a note for the Heart. It says, “ I only care about you. Don’t open up to anyone that would break you into pieces in the end.”

One afternoon after shopping, they are seated on an ice cream parlor in a walkway when suddenly the mobile phone rings. The Mind stared at the Heart closely while the latter was engaged on the call. Afterwards, the Mind asked her, “Same guy?”

With smiles almost reaching her ears, the Heart said, “Yes. He is so sweet and funny and… he likes me.. he even said he loves me.. and I like him, too.. he is one great guy.. isn’t that wonderful?” The Mind can see stars in the Heart’s eyes and she was worried that the Heart is falling in love. She shook her head.
The Mind held the Heart by the hand and told her, “How could you trust that he loves you? How did you know that he is a good person? Nobody knows him. How can you tell me he’s not just playing around? He might be fooling you. And you’re letting yourself be hooked. You are crazy. I already warned you.” The Mind was unbending.

The Heart knows that the Mind would never ever understand what she feels. And yes, she is in love. And it is not a question whether the guy is real or just a fantasy. Right now, the only thing that matters is she feels love and she believes him. Deep inside, she believes that he loves her.

The days had been beautiful. The flowers are pretty. It was so easy to smile and appreciate all the little things around. The Heart and the Mind have not talked as often as before so the Heart left a note one time in the Mind’s bed saying, “I know how much you care and I can only ask you to be happy for me.”

Until one day, the Mind came home and found the Heart in tears. She already knows it. The Heart never listens.. and worse.. she never learns. She went close to her, wiped her tears and whispered to her, “Cry it out loud.. you are just as stubborn as you always are.”

The Heart wrapped her arms tightly to the Mind knowing that she will stand with her no matter how things may be. She heard the Mind saying, “I couldn’t feel like you do but I can always think. That’s what I do. You need me and you got to listen to me. We cannot go our own separate ways. We have to be there for each other at all times.”

“I could only feel.. You would just hear me throbbing and there is no season for it.. There could only be Love and I would open myself when I feel it.. I would not let it pass.. even if it would hurt me in the end.”, the Heart says in between sobs.

The Mind comforted the Heart. “I will look after you from now on. You should let me.”

It took sometime for them to work on things together. It’s not easy to just go with what the other wants. But they were trying to learn how to meet halfway.
In one party they’ve been invited, the Mind saw a guy smiling at her. She just turned her eyes away and look for friends. She noticed the Heart smiling back at the guy.

“You’re starting again!”, the Mind speaks.

Still smiling, “He looks gorgeous, don’t you think?”, the Heart says.

Raising her brows and folding her arms, the Mind turned again to the Heart saying, “He’s dressed nicely but he looks like a Casanova who’s sweeping off the girls feet all over town. You wouldn’t want to be in his list.”

“Oh c’mon, dear. Who knows? He could be the love of my life..”, the Heart begs the Mind.

They heard a strange voice not from afar, telling them, “You’ll never know unless you would take a chance.”

Startled, they both asked, “Who are you?”

Laughing at their confusion, the voice speaks, “It’s me.. the Spirit.. or you can call me Guts.. am your hidden buddy. But now, I need to surface-out between the two of you.”

The Guts continued, “Take a chance, Heart, so you would not be wondering all your life with all the ‘what-could-have-beens’ but always be guarded, and that’s the job for the Mind to do. Don’t walk out on each other and never ignore the other. Compromise is the best thing to always do in life and in love.”

The Mind and the Heart couldn’t react to what they just heard. The Guts is right. That’s the way to do it. And before they even realized, the Guts disappears.

They were surprised to see the good-looking guy walking in their direction.
“Hi, I couldn’t believe that an angel would be in a place like this at this hour of the night”, the guy tries to charm her.

The Heart smiles while the Mind is on the lookout. She said her name and accepts the handshake the guy offered.

That same night upon reaching home, they both found a note on the table. It says, “I always work on call. Just call on me when you need me.”

And the battle came to rest.
